Mark's parents surprised us at Christmas with a first class trip to Hawaii to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We left Atlanta on Friday, April 2, 2010 and after a stopover in Denver, we landed in Maui at about 3 pm in the afternoon. We picked up our rental car and headed to the Ritz Carlton Kapalua! Wow, talk about luxury. We had plans to spend 5 nights in Maui with ME, Pop Pop, Alan, Mary, Anna, and Maria. We were so excited! Once we arrived and settled in, we headed to the Banyan Tree Restaurant on the Ritz Carlton property for the celebration dinner. It was delicious! We were all fading fast and had plans to zip line early the next morning, so we called it a night.

We headed to the Flying Hawaiian Zip line this morning bright and early. After suiting up and doing our practice run, we headed up in the first group to the first zip line. The course consists of about 7 zip lines and is almost 3 miles in total length. We were getting a little nervous because it was a long way down. While we waited for Alan and Mary and the girls, the fog rolled in and we were forced to postpone the adventure. We were so disappointed; however, they were luckily able to reschedule us for the next afternoon!
We headed back to the hotel with our hopes of our first Hawaiian adventure dashed. We were exhausted from the time change though, so we thought it would be a good day to relax by the pool. The weather was very iffy with beautiful sun and skies one moment and torrential rain the next. We ran in and out of shelter numerous times! We all enjoyed lunch together at the cabana; and later, we caught Uncle Alan napping on his porch! True vacation! The kids all were having a blast together!
In the late afternoon we headed to the luau ME had planned at the Old Lahaina Luau. What a blast! The scenery was gorgeous and the food and show were a great experience! We had plenty of time before the luau started to explore the area, see the crafts, and see the entire pig being roasted! We took lots of family pictures with the beautiful Pacific Ocean as our backdrop! This was such a fun time for the kids! They were ordering all kinds of non-alcoholic fruity drinks and they were good sports about trying all types of Hawaiian cuisine! We headed back to the Ritz with plans to meet up in the morning for Easter church!

Easter morning was GORGEOUS! We attended and outdoor church service at the nondenominational church on the Ritz Carlton property. After a nice family lunch, we headed back to Flyin Hawaiian for try number two! It started to rain on the way over and we were really nervous it just wasn't going to happen for us, but things cleared up and it was an amazing adventure! Mark was the first to venture down the zipline and while we were all fairly nervous, we were eager to give it a try. The end of the first zip line was so far away you could barely see it! It was so beautiful as we could look out over the Pacific Ocean. We each took our first turn cherring everyone else on and we had a fabulous time! Our guides were AWESOME! We had Duane, Neil, and Brian. They took great care of us! Other than one other couple from Seattle, it was just our group! Almost 3 miles of zipping over the mountain all the while with the Pacific Ocean in view! Spectacular! We headed back to the resort with LOTS of fun stories to tell Mark's parents!

On Monday, 4/5, we headed over to the water to do some snorkeling. It was fantastic! The water was so clear and we saw so many different colorful fish swimming right off the shore! We spent a few hours snorkeling and hanging out at the beach before heading back to get in some pool time with family! That evening we all went into Lahaina for dinner at Seafood House. Alan and Mary and the girls head to Oahu tomorrow and we have one more day on Maui! After dinner we strolled along through Lahaina taking it all in and stopping for an ice cream.

We spent our last day in Maui snorkeling and enjoying the weather. It was the most amazing day and we took full advantage of it! The kids swam and then decided to go back to snorkel again so we headed over to the beach with ME and Pop Pop for an hour. We enjoyed lunch in the cabana with ME and Pop Pop and just had an overall lovely day relaxing and exploring the resort! Before dinner we attempted to get some good pictures and then we headed to a Mexican Restaurant for dinner with ME and Pop Pop on our last night!
