We spent this Thanksgiving turkey day in Coco Cay.  It was an amazingly beautiful day!    We were originally scheduled to visit Coco Cay on Tuesday this week, but the sea conditions were rough from the wind and the ship captain thought it better to head to Nassau first and circle back to Coco Cay on our return trip.  It was a good call because we got a wonderful, non-windy day.

After a delicious breakfast on the ship, we hopped on the first tender over to the island.  Because the ship is so large, it is necessary to dock out a little way from the island and take a smaller boat over to the island.  Tenders went back and forth all day.  We were practically the first people on the island and we had the pick of chairs.  We did some photos on the deserted beach before heading into the chilly water.

Mark and I had brought our snorkeling gear from our pre-children, scuba days and I was hoping to see something interesting in the water.  The kids lounged on mats with their cousins and played while I headed out further to see some sea life.  There were lots of colorful fish, but the most interesting thing I saw was a giant sting ray.  It was about 4 feet long swimming right under me.  Wow, very cool!  I pointed it out to another snorkler and he informed me that he had seen a moray eel tucked back in some nearby rocks.  That was all I needed to hear to head back on shore and take my rightful place on a lounge chair next to Mark for the remainder of the day.  It was a very fun, but relaxing day.  We enjoyed a BBQ style lunch on the island and planned to hold off on the turkey and fixin's until we got back on the boat for an evening meal!

Darby and Grayson had secured spots to go to the Aqua Park positioned just down the beach, so we tried that for a bit.  It was set up in reasonably deep water and the kids were required to wear life jackets.  They said it was difficult to climb up on some of the fun toys out there but they enjoyed it for about 30 minutes.  Grayson came out of the water complaining of a sting on his foot.  That was all Darby needed to hear and she was out of the water as quick as I was when I heard about the eel.  The guard there told us it could have been a bite by "sea lice".  This certainly didn't sound good but Grayson got some medicine to put on it and was no worse for the wear!

We returned to the ship around 4 pm and we were off sailing once more - this time headed back to Cape Canaveral.
