In January 2005, the Blount family set off on a new adventure - Costa Rica! When we decided to homeschool Darby and Grayson back in the spring of 2004, we brainstormed different ideas which we thought would truly embrace the concept of homeschooling.

Knowledge of the Spanish language is such an asset in today's world, and having a background in language and travel, I knew the only effective way to learn Spanish would be through immersion. We heard about CPI Spanish Language School in Costa Rica from some friends that had been many times. They loved it. We decided to embark on an adventure of our own.

The kids and I enrolled to study at CPI for one week at the San Jose campus and one week at the Flamingo Beach campus. Mark joined us at the end of the second week in Flamingo Beach and from there we spent an additional week exploring the rainforests and volcanoes of Costa Rica.

This trip included learning about language, culture, arts, and science as well as providing many priceless family memories. What follows is the story of our trip, with photos, maps, links, and the notes from Jonna's diary.
