We checked into our hotel in the suburbs of Lexington last evening. The Hampton Inn is on Darby Drive! We grabbed a quick bite at Ruby Tuesdays and the kids had a bit of a swim and we cleaned up to head to the airport to pick up Mark. We arrived at the airport and his flight from Detroit had not even taken off yet due to bad weather! He had been in Canada earlier in the week and was meeting up with us to enjoy at least part of the Kentucky adventure! Heavy thunderstorms and tornado warnings came through the area but his plane finally made it in safely.
Saturday morning we awoke to COLD temperatures! I guess the storms had ushered in a cold front. We bundled up and headed to the Kentucky Horse Park. It was so wonderful there! We loved it. It was a bit cold but we enjoyed walking around the park and learning more about the retired thoroughbreds that now call the horse park home. The horses were absolutely beautiful. We took a carriage ride around the park that was pulled by clydesdale horses. We spent a good half day there and even though the weather was cold and gray, we had a great time.
We left the horse park around 1 pm and headed west for about an hour to Louisville to tour the Louisville Slugger Museum. (See Louisville page for photos of the Lousiville Sluggerville)
