After leaving New York City, we traveled about 1 hour to New Haven, Connecticut - the home of Yale University. We explored the campus and browsed in some shops before heading to Branford, a small suburb about 20 minutes away. Mark's college buddies, Andy and Susan Marlatt have lived in the beautiful little town of Branford for the last 20 years or so and it has been about 17 years since we have visited them there. Their area of town is a tiny peninsula out in the Long Island Sound with a view of the Thimble Islands - absolutely gorgeous! They have been working on renovating their house for the last few years and it is amazing! We enjoyed a fun visit and dinner with them before venturing into the "precious" town of Branford to Ashley's Ice Cream for dessert. Mark and Andy ended up staying up talking until 3:30 AM! I guess they think they are back in college and can still pull all-nighters! Andy, Susan, along with sons, Walker and Conor were wonderful and gracious hosts! We visited a bit more over breakfast the next morning before continuing the 2011 Blount Family Odyssey to our next destination of Rhode Island!
