We started our Independence Day seeing caribou on the side of the road

This moose mama and two calves also greeted us ...

...then crossed the road right behind us!

Grayson helping out by filling the RV with fresh water!

Jonna, Darby, and Grayson hiked down the Riley Trail while

Mark completed some maintenance items

Darby charged ahead on the trail

The trail led us right to the Nenana River

Grayson and Darby by the river

We took a paddle rafting trip

down the class III & IV rapids of the Nenana River

(Mark is in the front left, Grayson is back left (our guide Gabe is

behind him), Darby and Jonna are back right)

Watch the boat disappear and re-appear on this string of photos!

It was an exciting and breathtaking trek down the rough Nenana River!

Rafting on the Nenana was amazing!

Darby and Jonna became part of the Nenana Swim club because they

ricocheted out of the raft on a class IV rapid and were tossed into the 34 degree water

these dry suits are designed to keep your clothes dry - they did a pretty good job!

Mark was digging the rafting too!

On the way back we saw this Lynx tracking an Arctic Ground Squirrel

We camped at the Savage River Camp 13 miles inside the park

Our site was wonderfully secluded

Some of the beautiful forest wildflowers and moss at our campsite

We grilled out burgers and dogs at 10 pm at our site ...

Then took a stroll after our July 4th Dinner Cookout (10:30 PM)

11:00 PM on Independence Day down at Jenny Creek ... still daylight!

The 4th of July Denali Stone-Skipping Tournament.. it was a 3-way tie!
